American enterprise Waymo has announced that its self-driving taxis will be on offer for use on London's thoroughfares beginning next year.

London Becomes Pioneering European City for Self-Driving Taxi Service.

The UK capital will become the pioneering European city to launch an autonomous taxi service, comparable with those already operational in multiple US cities and four other American urban centers employing Waymo's innovative systems.

Waymo stated that its vehicles are presently en route to London and will start navigating on the city's public roads in the coming weeks with experienced operators supervising the vehicles.

A more extensive introduction of autonomous cabs is anticipated in the UK after the new law is fully implemented in 2027.

Waymo presently has ties to the UK after establishing its inaugural European technical center in Oxford in 2019.

It is furthermore starting offerings in Tokyo using JLR electric vehicles, marking its second existing operation beyond the US.
